THE DEPARTMENT OF VISUAL COMMUNICATION

The year started with great promise. Our students participated in many Photography and Short Film contests and cultural events and won many prizes as usual.  Following are the winners of different events.

Third Year Students

Mr. Rahoof Ibrahim , won the Best Director and Best Film Award at SRM Easwari Engineering College, National Level Short Film and Cultural Event.

Mr. Narayanan won First Prize at IIT SAARANG, Second Prize at SDNB Vaishnav, Second Prize at WCC,  Mr.Narayanan and Mr. Syed Mohamed won First Prize at Ethiraj College, in the respective Photo Contests.

Mr. Ahamed Lebbai, won First Prize for Clay Modelling and Second Prize for Mask Making at SDNB Vaishnav College.

 Mr. Fiaz Ur Rahman won Best Short Film Awards at  AMS College Of Engineering, Ethiraj College, Stanley and Madras Medical Colleges.

Second Year Students

Mr. Syed Mohammed Anees and T A. Md.Kamil Hussain won First Prize at SDNB Vishnava Womens College in Logo Designing, Shilpakar Arts, and Mask Making.

Mr.Mohammed Aznawi and Mr. Anirudh won First Prize in Film Quiz and  Mr. Mohamed Hassana Lebbai won Second Prize for Photography at Ethiraj Women's College. 

Mr. J. Jawahar Madheshwaran & Mr. A. Mohammed Ashraf won First Prize in Group Dance and in Duet Dance at SSS Jain College and KMC Respectively. This pair also won Second Prize in Group Dance in Rotaract Conference 2013 at Chettinad Vidhyashram.  

Mr. Zayd Tanveer has won First Prize in Computer Gaming in Tamil Nadu State Level Competition conducted by M/S. LordNod Gaming.

First Year Students

Mr. A.A. Syed Shahabudeen and Mr. K. Mohamed Sarafath won First Prize for Paper Craft at SDNB Vaishnav College. Mr. Karuppaiah won third Prize for Clay Modelling at SDNB Vaishnav College.

Mr. Adhesh Chetty, a First Year student has won All India Championship in Rifle Sharp Shooting Competition. Mr. Adhesh has been selected to represent India in International Competitions.

Mr. Sulaiman, a Second Year student has composed Music and made his debut as a Music Director for a Tamil Feature Film “Katradhum Petradhum”. The film is slated for release in April 2013.

Mr. Kavithran, a Third Year student is acting as a Hero in a Tamil Feature Film “ “Namma Katha” and the film is expected to be released in May 2013.

Final Year students under the guidance of Prof. P. Ibrahim attended a two day “Media Workshop” on the efficiency, safety and future of Nuclear Energy in India conducted by IGCAR, and Anna University at Kalpakkam.

In the month of December our student volunteers took active part in the successful conduct of the 10^th Edition of the Chennai International Film Festival (CIFF) for a second consecutive year. Our students under the guidance of Prof. R. M. Rizwan earned fantastic appreciation from the organizers, delegates and guests for their extraordinary service during the ten days of the festival.

Our Head of the Department Prof. N. Abul Faiz delivered Guest Lectures at Nangyang University of Singapore (NUS) and James Cook University (JCU) in Singapore.

Our department conducted a State Level Photography/ Short Film Contest along with a Photography Exhibition on 8^th March 2013 at the AAS Auditorium. Under the guidance of the HOD Prof. N. Abul Faiz and with the support of all the staff and students of the department Prof. E. Senthil Kumaran as Vice President of the department coordinated the successful conduct of the exhibition and contest. Cine Director Mr. K. Bhagya Raj and Cinematographer Mr. Ravi Varman were the Guests Honour. They adjudged the Three Best Photographs and Three Best Short Films and distributed the Prizes to the Winners.

Jawahar Madheshwarean and Mohamed Ashraf both II B.Sc., Vis. Com. are good dancers. This duo  has won many prizes in several Inter-Collegiate cultural programs.
